Energy saving tips

October 2, 2019

Insulation can be one of the most effective measure to keeping your home warm. If you feel as though you’re constantly heating your home but that it doesn’t stay warm for  long, insulation could be the answer to your problems. Both cavity wall and loft insulation could save you up to £250 a year! About 60% of heat is lost though poorly insulated, or a lack of insulated, walls and ceilings.

At Heat we are currently offering a range of insulation grants, so don’t hesitate and get in touch!

Switching your energy supplier

Unfortunately staying loyal to your energy provider often means you end up overpaying on your bills. Most energy contracts last a couple of years, after which you are usually being put on a default tariff, which is likely to be a poor deal. According to Ofgem some 58% of us are on default tariffs. Research shows you could be saving up to £350 a year on your utility bills by switching to a better deal.

Turning your thermostat down just by 1C to 2C you could be saving around £100 on your energy bills. Energy Saving Trust recommends having your home temperature set between 18C - 21C.

40% of greenhouse emissions come from UK households, hence lowering the temperature inside  your home will not only reduce your energy consumption, but will also lower your carbon footprint.

Boiler Upgrades

Old and inefficient boilers use a lot of energy, making them wasteful and costly to run. An average lifespan of a boiler is 10-15 years, so if your boiler is older than that you might want to consider an upgrade to keep your energy costs down in the long run. Installing a new, more efficient boiler can save you around £200 a year!

The great news is that we are currently offering boiler upgrade grants, so don’t delay and call today!
